St. Clair Shores Civic Arena Gutters to Be Replaced

Council receives only one bid for $60,000 repair job.

(Originally published on Dec. 14, 2016) ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — The newly renovated St. Clair Shores Civic Arena is getting more improvements, out of necessity. Leaky gutters, estimated to be 25-30 years, allowed water to seep into the building, but now they're being repaired, the St. Clair Shores Sentinel reports.

The wok is being done by Great Lakes Gutter in Livonia, which submitted a bid of $60,870. The bid, the only one received, was more than $20,000 higher than city estimates. The building's roof has a high dripline, accounting for the higher bid.

Mayor Kip Walby said a project to seal the joints of the Civic Arena parking lot came in under project estimates, offsetting some of the costs of the gutter work.
