St. Clair Shores Sharks Win Third Straight Regional Championship
The St. Clair Shores Special Olympics basketball team achieves a three-peat

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. — The St. Clair Shores Sharks Special Olympics basketball team achieved a three-peat, winning a regional championship for the third consecutive year. The team took the Division 5 title at the Special Olympics regional tournament held at Northville High School on March 4.
The Sharks defeated the Wayne/Westland Eagles in the first round by a score of 44-33. In the championship game, the Sharks pulled away in the final minutes for a 28-22 victory over the Red Storm.
Sharks players include: James Averette, Romel Bond, Scott Castro, Aaron Deskins, Joe Gasiorowski, Dwain Goodlow, Vincente Johnson, Andy Linsdeau, Anthony Maniaci, Stephen Mazurkiewicz, Matthew Osterman, Suzanne Pauli, Sean Phelps, and Josh White. The team is coached by Greg Mazurkiewicz with assistant coaches Margaret Mazurkiewicz and Steve White.

The team now qualifies for the state basketball finals to be held March 24-25 at Calvin College in Grand Rapids.
