Teens Held in Shores Church Break-In

Two teens are being held in the Macomb County Youth Home after breaking in, and vandalizing, a St. Clair Shores church.

The wife of the pastor whose church was broken into Sunday night by two teenagers wants to show compassion to the girls who allegedly damaged windows and spray painted graffiti on building walls.

"It is our chance to be like Jesus to our neighbors who are struggling with a teenager," said Sandra Davidson, who declined to estimate the cost of the damage to . "My preference would be for the girls to clean it up."

The 15-year-old girls from Clinton Township and St. Clair Shores are in custody at the Macomb County Youth Home for allegedly breaking into and defacing the church.

According to a police report, officers were called after neighbors saw two teenage girls near Faith Community Christian Church carrying spray paint and a bottle of wine.

When officers arrived, the two girls attempted to flee. One was caught by the church and the second girl ran to her home.

Additional officers entered the church and observed damage in the church, including damage to air conditioning units and a window screen, and paint on a stop sign and the back wall of the church parking lot.

The girls are also alleged to have sprayed fire extinguishers inside the school and stolen 73 cents in change.

The teens could face charges including breaking and entering and damage to property.
