Top 10 Jobs for St. Clair Shores Millennials (and What They Pay)

Young millennials may stay on the job for only 16 months before seeking another job. The Patch Jobs Board has oodles of open positions.

The nation’s 75 million millennials – individuals between the ages of 18 and 34 – are known for restlessness and job hopping and have what their great-great-grandparents might have called wanderlust or “sand in their shoes.”

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the typical worker aged 20 to 24 has been in their job for about 16 months. Among those aged 25-34, the median tenure was three years, compared with a median tenure of five and one-half years among workers ages 25 and older.

The jobs site CareerCast has put together a list of the best jobs for millennials, according to a recent report by Business insider. Here they are, along with some recently posted jobs on the Patch Jobs Board:

Advertising Account Executive: Annual median salary, $115,750; projected growth outlook by 2022, 12 percent; bachelor’s degree generally required.

Civil engineer: annual median salary, $79,340; projected growth outlook by 2022, 20 percent; bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or civil engineering technology required, graduate degree and licensure typically needed for promotion to senior positions.

Computer systems analyst: annual median salary, $79,680; projected growth outlook by 2022, 2 percent; bachelor’s degree in a computer or information science typically required, but not always.

Data scientist: annual median salary, $124,149: projected growth outlook by 2022, 15 percent; Ph.D. in computer science or related field required for most jobs, but a bachelor’s degree may be enough for some federal government jobs.

Financial planner: annual median salary, $67,520; projected growth outlook by 2022, 27 percent; bachelor’s degree required.

Market research analyst: annual median salary, $60,300; projected growth outlook by 2022, 32 percent; bachelor’s degree required for most positions, master’s degree required for top positions.

Physical therapist: annual median salary, $79,860; projected growth outlook by 2022, 36 percent; doctor of physical therapy (DPT) degree required for most, all states require licensure.

Social media manager: annual median salary, $46,169; projected growth outlook by 2022, 13 percent; bachelor’s degree required for most marketing management positions.

Software engineer: annual median salary, $93,350; projected growth outlook by 2022, 22 percent; bachelor’s degree in computer science typically required.

Statistician: annual median salary, $75,560; projected growth outlook by 2022, 27 percent; graduate degree in statistics or mathematics generally required.
