Warren Man Arrested After Carjacking, Police Chase

WARREN, MI — A Warren man was arrested Sunday night after carjacking a woman and crashing her car three times during a police chase, Warren Police said.

Robert Lee Bartolomucci, 55, is charged with carjacking, fleeing and eluding the police in the 2nd, 2 counts of Assault with Dangerous Weapon, resisting and obstructing police and driving with a suspended license 2nd offense.

The charges carry several felonies, including a life felony for carjacking and a ten-year felony for fleeing and eluding police.

Bartolomucci was arraigned by 37th District Court Judge Faunce. Bond was set at $1,000,000.00 cash/surety only. Bartolomucci’s next court date is 12/09/2021.

The incident started when Bartolomucci carjacked a woman at the Valero Gas Station on 13 Mile and Hoover roads at 11:20 p.m. Police said he threw the 56-year-old woman to the ground to steal her keys and then took off in her 2015 Chevy Malibu south on Hoover Road.

The woman suffered minor injuries, police said.

Police located the car near 11 Mile and Sutherland Avenue in Warren, and upon seeing officers, Bartolomucci crashed into a police car while fleeing, officials said.

Bartolomucci then drove across several front laws and struck another vehicle parked in the driveway of a home, police said.

Bartolomucci eventually lost control of the car in the area of 11 Mile and Schoenherr roads after striking another police car, officials said.

Police arrested Bartolomucci and found the 56-year-old woman’s purse and other property inside the Malibu.

Bartolomucci has a lengthy criminal history that includes previous convictions for unarmed robbery, fleeing and eluding, possession of stolen vehicle, resisting and obstructing police, unlawful use of a vehicle and narcotic possession, police said.

"Patrol officers had a fast response to the scene and utilized technology to quickly locate the vehicle," Warren police Commissioner Bill Dwyer said. "Officers then worked to arrest this violent and dangerous suspect before more harm could occur."
