Warren Teen Charged In Connection To School Shooting Threats: Police

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — A 13-year-old boy is facing charges after police said he threatened to shoot up three Macomb County schools on Wednesday.

The juvenile was charged with a false report or threat of terrorism, which carries a 20-year felony, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said. He was denied bond and was placed in the Macomb County Youth Home, pending his next court date, officials said.

Officials said the teen posted to Twitter that he was going to "shoot up" Cousino High School and Carter Middle School in Warren, as well as Community High School in Sterling Heights. All three schools closed Wednesday after officials found the threats.

Less than 12 hours later, police executed a search warrant in the teen's home, where they took several electronic communication devices, but did not find any guns, officials said. He was arrested at the home without incident.

"Schools threats have to be taken seriously in today’s times," Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer said. "It is saddening that school threats continue to disrupt the lives of students, parents, and the community."
