‘Waves of Hope’ Raises Money for The Lake House

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — The Lake House, a gathering place providing support services to those whose lives have been touched by cancer, has announced its fall “Waves of Hope” programming.

Throughout September and early October, community members are hosting parties to raise money for programming at the Lake House, 26701 Little Mack Ave., St. Clair Shores.

The Lake House offers a multitude of programs to assist those touched by cancer, from caregiver and bereavement groups, to wellness activities — including yoga and Zumba, a speaker series that features health care professionals and other experts that speak to a variety of cancer and general wellness topics.

Here are the upcoming events:

Sunday, Sept. 11, 1-4 p.m. at The Lake House: “Market Day” vendors such as Creative Designs, Thirty-One Gifts and others will be present and each vendor will donate a portion of their proceeds to The Lake House.

Wednesday, Sept. 21, 4-10 p.m. at Red Crown restaurant, 15301 Kercheval Ave., in Grosse Pointe Park: A portion of all proceeds will benefit The Lake House.

Monday, Oct. 10, 5-9 p.m. at Mike’s on the Water, 24600 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores: The Oktoberfest German buffet includes pork, gravy schnitzel, brats, German potato salad, coleslaw, sauerkraut and desserts. The band Die Rhinelanders will also be playing at the event. Tickets are $20 and will benefit The Lake House.

Waves of Hope kicked off Aug. 30 with Fun at Fishbones, where food and a brief program lead to $2,540 raised for The Lake House.
