Widdicomb Table

I got this original Widdicomb table from a customer who wanted it refinished. This table had a classy look, resembling a guitar. Widdicomb furniture designed many such pieces and this one was a rare find. It was a solid wood piece and quite heavy. My customer had asked for a dark stain.

The first step was to complete the sanding, to remove the remaining residue of paint. Once the paint was gone, the beauty of the wood beneath was visible. With the surface smooth, I then applied walnut stain. Once the stain dried, I applied a coat of semi-gloss polyurethane. After the first coat was dry, I gave it a light sanding then applied a second coat of polyurethane. Satisfied with the final coat, the table was complete. My customer loved it!
