Mother Fatally Shoots Son Before Herself In Macomb County: Police

Investigators believe​ the woman has suffered from mental health illnesses in the past.

WARREN, MI — A mother fatally shot her son before killing herself inside a Warren home Sunday morning, according to police.

The shooting happened at 8:22 a.m. at a home in the 13,000 block of Geoffrey Drive, near 12 Mile and Schoenherr roads in Warren, according to police.

Police said a 33-year-old man called 911 and said his mother pointed a gun at him shortly after he woke up Sunday morning.

After a brief struggle, the man ran to a neighbor’s house for help, according to police.

When officers arrived at the home, they tried contacting the mother, but she didn't respond to them, according to police.

Moments later, officers heard multiple gunshots inside the home, according to police.

Officers then went into the home, where they found the woman and her 26-year-old son, who had special needs, dead from gunshot wounds, according to police.

Investigators believe the woman shot her son to death before shooting herself, according to police.

Investigators believe the woman had suffered from mental health illnesses in the past.

Police also said there is no danger to the public and are continuing to investigate the incident.
