GIBRALTAR, MI — A bomb threat was called in to a Wayne County high school serving as a polling place on Election Day, police said.
The call on Tuesday threatened Carlson High School in Gibraltar, according to police, who said late Tuesday afternoon that the building was evacuated and that Brownstown, Gibraltar and Wayne County authorities conducted a thorough sweep of the area.
The building was found to be clear and voting was allowed to resume inside the school, police said early Tuesday evening.
The school is a polling location for Brownstown Precincts 8 and 11, according to Brownstown Township police.
"We take all threats seriously," police said in a public safety update. "The safety of voters, election workers, and the integrity of the democratic process are of the utmost importance."
Voters at the school were temporarily moved to the parking lot, where they were allowed to continue casting ballots while police investigated, according to Click On Detroit.
