A recent analysis of Google Trends shows where the man bun cuts it, and where it doesn't. Women flat-out don't like it.

Michigan men are having a bromance with buns.

No, not those buns (and by those buns, we don’t mean the ones that hold a hamburger in place, either). We’re talking hair here.

Michigan ranks No. 8 among states that just love the male version of the top knot, according to a study by West Coast Shaving, which analyzed Google Trends data to come up with its man-bun popularity study.

Laugh if you want, but Michigan men are a stylish lot. Another West Coast Shaving analysis ranked Michigan No. 3 in style, behind only New York and – you probably didn’t see this coming – Utah. Michigan men ranked No. 6 in their preference for beards and so-so for mustaches.

But among women, the man bun gets about as much respectas the business-in-the-front-party-in-the-back mullet does from everyone else.

Nearly two-thirds of women either don’t like or flat-out hate the man bun, and more than 58 percent said they wouldn’t date a man with a man bun. The top five adjectives women think of when seeing a man with a man bun are, in order, feminine trendy, weird, sexy and hot.
