Trenton Boys Basketball Team Seeks Help

The Trenton boys basketball team will hold a golf scramble designed to raise money for the team on Saturday.

The scramble will not only help the boys basketball team, but head coach Rick Morrow said it will help raise funds for every basketball player in the Trenton school system.

"We have purchased a Vertimax machine, and it did cost us $3,000," Morrow said. "This machine will help us tremendously."

The Vertimax is designed to help athletes hone certain abilities. These abilities include their leaping ability and helping to increase their foot speed.

The event will be held at Wesburn Golf and Country Club, which is located at 5617 Huron River Drive in Rockwood. The cost of the event is $70, which includes a meal and a raffle ticket for prizes.

"Every person who pays to play in the outing will be guaranteed a prize," Morrow said. "We have a wide assortment of prizes, from shirts to golf bags to golf drivers, to Tigers tickets that are box seats located in the Tiger Den."

The event starts at 1:30 p.m. at Wesburn. During the event, there will be numerous activities to win prizes. Some of the par three holes on the course will have different challenges on them. Two holes will feature a closest to the pin contest and another hole will feature a longest drive contest.

After the event, dinner will be held at the VFW Hall in Trenton, 2763 Veterans Parkway, where of Trenton will take care of the food for the evening. Prizes will be awarded in addition to a 50/50 drawing at the hall.

Slots for foursomes are still available and teams that wish to play can simply show up on the day of the scramble.

Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and tee off is at 1:30 p.m.
