Trenton Soroptimists' 65th Celebration
SI of Trenton Area's Celebrate 65 years as a Service Organization
Soroptimist International of Trenton Area celebrated its 65th charter anniversary on June 28th at TV’s Grand Event in Trenton. The ceremony began with a buffet dinner. Midwestern Region Governor, Vivian Walczesky, presided over the installation of this year’s new officers: President Linda Crisi, President-elect Karen Collins, Vice- President Abby Premoe, Secretary Nancy Nagle, Treasurer Chris Speedie, and Directors Kirsten Brockmiller, Donna Fickeisen, and Cathy Infantado. New members Mary Rose Bristow, Kim Budz, Brigette Rizzuto, and Tricia Rushlow were then inducted.
Five-year milestone pins were awarded to Michelle Amrozi and Pat Bryan, a fifteen-year pin to Mary Batcheller, twenty-year pins to Cristine Howe and Sandy Rushlau, and a stunning forty-year pin to Gwen Brannick.
The members of Soroptimist, in particular the president and last year’s Soroptimist of the Year, voted for the 2016 honorees: “Rookie of the Year,” Cathy Infantado; “Key Member,” Chris Speedie; and the Soroptimist of the Year, Abby Premoe.
Many guest attended this special anniversary event, including the current Midwestern Region Board of Directors: Midwestern Region Governor Vivian Walczesky, MWR District III Director Cindi Ames (also a Trenton Soroptimist), and MWR District III Secretary Mary Pilon. Former Midwestern Region Governor Missie Austin and Laura Ferguson came up from Kenton, Ohio. Former District Director Darcy Merritt traveled to join the festivities. Former SI of Trenton Area President, Theresa Smith, came from Kentucky. Several members from Soroptimist International of Monroe County, Wyandotte-Southgate-Taylor, and Flat Rock Area shared in the celebration, as well as many “Soropti-misters,” the husbands of the Trenton Soroptimist women.
Trenton Soroptimists will be hosting these upcoming events:
Golf Outing, August 6, at Woodside Meadows Golf Course.
Motorcycle Run, September 10, Biker Bob’s and Rosie O’Grady’s.
Various scholarship applications, deadlines beginning November 15.
