Two Local Food Pantries Receive Trenton Soroptimists' Donation

St. Philip Lutheran Church Food Pantry and the Gibraltar Food Pantry each received a check from Soroptimist International of Trenton Area. Many residents in the downriver area are in need of extra assistance to feed their families, and these two groups provide nutritious food and meal plans. Both food pantries are run by volunteers and are funded through grants, donations (monetary and food), and the Gleaner’s Community Food Bank.
St. Philip Lutheran Church Food Pantry is located at 1790 Fort Street in Trenton and can be reached by phone: 734 676-7141. Hours of operation to serve Trenton residents are 11:00 A.M to 2:00 P.M. on Wednesdays. Proof of residency and income are required.
The Gibraltar Food Pantry, 29885 Bayview, is housed in the First Congregational Church. The open pantry hours are Tuesdays from 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and Wednesdays from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Residents of Gibraltar, or the area of Brownstown east of I-75, south of Vreeland, and north of Woodruff are eligible to partake of the food pantry if they meet federal and state requirements for food assistance, and must provide a photo ID and proof of income.
