Trojan Fan Profile: Heather Shimanek

The Trenton High School Spanish teacher and cheerleading mom was there for the tough loss to Allen Park Friday night.

Trenton resident Heather Shimanek was in the rowdy Trenton bleachers Friday night with coat and blanket to fight chilly temperatures as the Trojans lost a 7-0 heartbreaker to the Jaguars.

She has taught Spanish at Trenton for 12 years, has a daughter and son in the Trenton school systems. Daughter Hannah is a sophomore and cheers on the junior varsity cheer squad.

"I feel bad for the boys. They were so close," Shimanek said. "I don't know everything about football, but I know they played really hard."

One of the cool things about Shimanek is she interacts with the students everyday in the classroom. So she cheers the boys on using their first names when they do something good or bad. She was crushed for the boys who jumped offsides down the stretch which proved to be critically fatal mistakes.
