Trojans Soccer Take Care Of The Jags

The Trojans stayed true to their season pattern Thursday night with solid defense, slight struggles putting the ball in the net, but ultimately a nice league victory against the visiting Allen Park Jaguars.

"It's our second time going around the league now so everyone's going to be gunning for us," Trojan coach Tony Ciarlo said after his team beat their league rival on a chilly evening under the lights. "We are showing some signs of complacency, because we once again got off to a kind of sluggish start, but we have to work at that because everyone's going to be giving us their best shot."

Garrett Nabozni got the Trojans on the board eight and a half minutes into the game knocking one in the top right corner of the net. Davide Dipoce added the next goal late in the first half. Allen Park got within a goal soon after to trail 2-1 at halftime.

The second half was back and forth with mostly even time of possession and scoring attempts for both teams before Nabozni scored again midway through the second. After that, the win was never really in doubt.

"My teammates did a nice job of working the ball in and I was able to knock in a couple," Nabozni said. "It felt pretty good."

Ciarlo was pleased with his team's performance and the sight of Nabozni, a sophomore midfielder, being able to add a couple of tallies on the scoreboard was nice to see.

"Our defense has been our strength all year. Finishing has not," Ciarlo said. "We have two guys that are scoring for us and we're hoping to have some others step up."

The two-time defending league Trojans move to 11-3-1 overall and 9-0 in the league.
