Wayne County Assisted Living Resident Found Dead Outside In The Cold: Police
Police said the woman had been dead for a "significant amount of time" and that she wasn't dressed for the cold.
BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP, MI — An elderly woman was found dead Sunday in Wayne County, according to police.
Police said the 88-year-old woman lived at the Forest View Assisted Living Facility on Allen Road in Brownstown Township, and that a passerby found her dead outside a nearby business at 8:14 a.m. Sunday.
When officers arrived, they determined she had been dead for a "significant amount of time" and that she wasn't dressed for the cold, according to police.

Temperatures across metro Detroit fell as low as 2 degrees with even colder wind chills Sunday morning.
Her remains were turned over to the Wayne County Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy, according to police.

Investigators were still trying to determine what led up to the woman's death. They said the investigation is still in its early stages and asked the community to "join us in keeping the individual's family in your thoughts. This is truly a tragic event."

Forest View is an assisted living facility that provides housing and food for senior citizens and disabled people. Their staff assists residents with daily tasks, such as bathing, dressing and taking medicine. They also routinely conduct safety checks on residents, according to the 15-year-old company's website.
