Weather Finally Breaks, Bringing Games Galore for Prep Sports Fans

Alas, three days of good weather in a row!

Perhaps now the joke Mother Nature has been playing on us has finally come to an end.

In fact, we here in the Pick of the Week (POW) Department actually got a little too much sun this past week watching games. 

Our tomato-red cheeks, necks and noses are a surefire sign that the games are back on track.

Of course, the massive amount of rainouts has a positive effect on fans in one way: these teams have to make up these games over the next three weeks or so.

Meaning an extraordinary amount of baseball, softball, soccer, track, lacrosse, rugby and golf for prep-sports fanatics.

We’ve been working hard to make sure you have an idea of which games to catch and which ones to pass on this week. 

So, let’s get right into the good stuff.

Hold on a second here. 

We’re so geeked about the upcoming week that we forgot all about the shout-out to teams from last week.

That said, hats off the baseball team from Trenton High. They made the trek across town to St. Clair Shores last Saturday and promptly ousted Lakeview High, 3-1, in a brilliantly pitched game from Jordan Conti.

Also, kudos to the track teams, who were stellar at the Warrior Classic last weekend. The boys finished a strong third while the girls wound up in fifth place.

Now, let’s get to some of the good stuff that lies ahead this week.

• Trenton vs. Truman boys and girls track, 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trenton. We’ve been talking about the teams for weeks now. Here’s your chance to get out and see them compete in person. 
• Trenton vs. Allen Park baseball, 4 p.m. Thursday at Trenton High. Get out and see if the Trojans can continue their stellar play against a pretty worthy foe in AP.
