West Grange Pharmacy in a continued effort to dispose of potentially dangerous, expired and unwanted medications is hosting its third annual Yellow Jug Drug Take Back Day. Once again, West Grange Pharmacy is partnering with Trenton Police Department to repeat this public service.
“We encourage our customers to go through their home medicine cabinets, remove all unneeded and/or expired prescription and narcotic prescription drugs, including Oxycontin, and bring them to West Grange Pharmacy for safe and environmentally responsible disposal,” said Jim Giordano, West Grange pharmacist. “This is a terrific program that is free and a perfect way to ensure safety in your home."
Because West Grange Pharmacy is accepting these narcotic drugs, the Trenton Police Department will be on hand the entire time. The Yellow Jugs are provided by the Great Lakes Clean Water Organization. Last year, over 200 lbs. of expired drugs were collected at West Grange Pharmacy.
“The amount of dangerous drugs taken off the streets through the Yellow Jug Program represents the importance and success of community involvement,” said James Nardone, Trenton Chief of Police. “West Grange Pharmacy and Rich Grossman have long been supportive partners with the Trenton Police department. We look forward to continuing the Yellow Drug event for many years to come.”
