$1 Investment Yields $6 Million for Oakland County Winner

The unidentified winner claimed a $3.8 million lump sum.

Oakland County has a new multi-millionaire.

The Michigan Lottery said the winner, a woman who chose to remain anonymous, was buying tickets at a 7-Eleven store when she learned she had purchased a $6 million ticket a few days before, the Detroit Free Press reports.

The winner claimed the prize in a $3.8 million lump sum Tuesday. The $6 million jackpot in the Lotto 47 game on Sept. 27 was the largest won in Michigan so far this year.

The woman purchased her winning $1 ticket at a 7-Eleven store in Southfield. She returned there Tuesday to buy Mega Millions tickets and learned she was a $6 million winner when the clerk checked the ticket she’d purchased earlier.
