$1,200 Sunglasses Ripped from Man's Face at Mall: Police

When Somerset Collection mall security and police caught up with suspect, they also found Xanax and a large amount of cash.

TROY, MI – A 22-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly stole a $1,200 pair of designer sunglasses from a man who was eating at the food court of the Somerset Collection, 2800 W. Big Beaver Road, about 5:10 p.m. Friday.

The victim told police the suspect came up behind him and stole the Cartier sunglasses from his face, then took off running through the mall.

The victim chased the suspect, who was later apprehended by mall security Troy police officers.

When the man was arrested, police also seized a narcotics bottle with the label removed that had 35 ½ pills that tested positive as Xanax, police said.
