Adults Accompany Teen in Attempts to Shoplift from Nordstrom

According to a Nordstrom Loss Prevention report, a 13-year-old teenager attempted to steal two cell phone covers from the department store around 5 p.m. Friday. After placing the cover in her coat pocket, the teen left the store without paying. Ten minutes later, the girl reentered Nordstrom along with two adult women who proceeded to selected merchandise, the report stated. According to the report, all three women entered the same fitting room and when they emerged, it was determined that some of the clothing taken into the fitting room was missing. When Loss Prevention stopped the women, they discovered that the two adults had stolen clothing concealed in shopping bags and the teen had the stolen cell phone covers in her coat pocket, the report stated. The adults, ages 21 and 41, both from Sterling Heights, received citations for retail fraud as well as contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The 13-year-old, also from Sterling Heights and the daughter of the 41-year-old, will be petitioned to Probate Court.
