3 Seats Up For Grabs On Troy City Council

Four political newcomers are challenging incumbents for the three open seats on Troy's City Council.

TROY, MI — The composition of Troy’s city council could change dramatically after the Nov. 7 general election. Three seats are open with seven candidates running. Incumbents Ellen Hodorek, Paul McCown and Ed Pennington are all seeking reelection.

Kumar Giri, Mark Gunn, David Hamilton and Sunil Sivaraman, all newcomers, are challenging for those seats, according to a C&G Newspaper report.
‘Hamilton, a 24-year Troy resident, said via email that he wants “to give back to the community that shaped me and supported my family through our most challenging times. I’m committed to fighting for a future that protects our award-winning schools, leverages innovation and builds on Troy’s rich history. When elected, I’ll practice transparency in government, listen to citizens, and bring practical and inexpensive solutions to improve our city services.”
