Troy Man Charged In Crash That Critically Injured 1: Police

Police said the man was driving a Ford Mustang and sped through a red light at a Troy intersection, causing the crash.

TROY, MI — A Troy man is facing charges after speeding through a red light and causing a crash that seriously injured another man last weekend, according to police.

The crash happened at 11:27 p.m. last Saturday at the intersection of Big Beaver and Livernois roads, according to police.

Police said 21-year-old Mohamed Ali Ahmad was speeding in a 2025 black Ford Mustang as he approached the intersection.

He continued and sped through a red light at the intersection, slamming into a gray Ford Fusion, according to police.

The driver of the Ford Fusion, a 27-year-old Bloomfield Hills man, was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, according to police.

He remains in critical condition, according to police.

Ahmad has been charged with one count of reckless driving causing serious impairment of body function. He was placed in jail with a $50,000 bond.

Police are still investigating the crash and asked anyone with information to call the Troy Police Department at 248-524-3477.
