Cyclist, Still Unidentified, Seriously Injured in Crash

Police have not yet identified the victim in the crash.

A man in his 50s was seriously injured after his bicycle was struck by a southbound motorist while crossing Livernois at Wattles about 3:15 p.m. Monday, Troy, police said.

The bicyclist, who was not named, was taken to Beaumont Hospital – Royal Oak, where he is listed in serious condition, the Troy Police Department said Tuesday. Police said they have been unable to identify the bicyclist, a white male with gray hair who was wearing a maroon sweatshirt and gray pants at the time of the crash.

The motorist was not injured and remained at the scene during the investigation, police said.

Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation by the South Oakland County Crash Investigation Team.
