My name is Maya, I am an ambassador at Athletes for Tots. Since the start of my taekwondo journey nine years ago I have become the AAU Michigan Athlete of the Year, a 2-time ATU National Team Member as well as being an AAU Junior Olympic gold medalist. I’m a high school student attending International Academy East, and I train at Everest Taekwondo in Troy, Michigan.
Athletes For Tots Vision: Our mission is to inspire elementary school students to embrace sports early in life, encouraging a passion for physical activity and healthy competition. We strive to create a community where children are motivated to achieve their dreams. We envision a future where every child recognizes the potential within themselves to excel in sports, building confidence and resilience along the way!
We’re planning a fun “Day at the Park” event this summer for kids to interact with high school (high-performing) athletes through outdoor games and exercise.Â

Date & Time: August 9 (Sunday), 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Who: All elementary schoolers welcome (K–5)

• Taekwondo Basics
• Team sports like Capture the Flag
• And other fun games led by local high school athletes!
We’ll also take some time to reflect with the kids on why sports are so important—how they help us grow stronger, develop crucial skills, believe in ourselves, and create incredible experiences and long-lasting relationships!
