Calling All Michigan Artists and Designers: Tapper's Announces Call for Entries in Design Contest

Tapper’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry is calling on artists and designers to submit proposals to win the opportunity to have their design manufactured and launched within the Tapper’s Rock Her World diamond collection. The winner’s design and profile will be featured in the fall issue of Tapper’s Accent magazine and on tappers.com. A cash award and the opportunity to be considered for an internship or apprenticeship at Tapper’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry is also part of the prize.

“Design is a crucial factor in the relationship between a customer and a piece of jewelry,” says Steven Tapper, vice president and lead designer of Tapper’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry. “As an industry leader, we’re interested in nurturing the creative talents of young people in our state. We are proud to launch a competition that will showcase the promise, innovation and individuality in the work of emerging artists and hope the opportunity will advance the career of a talented artist in the early stage of their career.”

Tapper’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry introduced the Rock Her World diamond in 2012. Rock Her World began with the desire to create a signature cut that would capture the essence of a diamond, revealing the gem’s inner beauty. This meticulously cut diamond features 81 facets, and is the only diamond of its kind in the world. The marriage of perfect symmetry and an additional 24 facets allows light to travel through the diamond in a way that makes it appear larger and more brilliant, producing sparkle that is visible from across the room. Taking inspiration from astronomy, each piece of Rock Her World jewelry is thoughtfully named for a star or constellation.

Designs in the Tapper’s Rock Her World Design Contest will be judged based on overall design, originality, marketability, practicality/wearability and best interpretation of the theme. Entry forms are due June 1, and completed applications are due June 15, 2015.
