Candlelight Vigil Held for Troy Theatre Ensemble Director
Candlelight Vigil Held for Long-time Troy Theatre Ensemble Director, Rick Bodick
Last night, the Troy School District, Troy High School community, and Troy Theatre Ensemble family came together for a two-hour vigil to remember and celebrate the life of long-time Troy Theatre Director, Rick Bodick, who passed away unexpectedly last week. There was a welcome and Opening, then students read through a roll call of all 68 productions performed under Rick's direction (since 1986…34 years), with guests raising their hands for shows they had connections to. There were reflections and heartfelt comments given by current and former students, remarks by Rick's brother, a candlelighting (too much wind, but it was the thought that counted----participants raised their cell phones instead), a moment of silence, some singing, then time for everyone to visit and share memories. In the middle of the ceremony, appropos of nothing and with no hint of showers present, a rainbow appeared in the sky to the right of the gathering. A sign that our beloved theatre director and friend was surely with us. A more formal celebration of Rick's life and legacy will be held in the fall, with more details forthcoming.
