May 29, 2018 , Warren, Mich. – Memorial Day weekend was not a time for celebrating, according to the animal control officers in the City of Warren. Dozens and dozens of cats are being dumped in areas throughout the city.
Early in the day Friday, May 25, the Warren animal control office received an urgent call. Somebody had apparently abandoned an unknown number of cats in the parking lot of Shaw Park in Warren. The caller reported that one of the cats had already passed away. Volunteers and animal control arrived on the scene with food and crates and all of the surviving cats were rounded up and rushed to All About Animals’ Warren clinic to be assessed. Several were suffering from upper respiratory infections and some were underweight. All of the cats were suffering from stress.
“When we moved one of the cats to foster care,” said Santa Burger, a volunteer who helped with this case. “he literally ran to me and flopped over on his side. These are good cats.”
