Detroit-area Celebrities to 'Dance with our Local Stars'

Limited seating still available to watch local celebrities perform in a dance competition Friday at the San Marino Club in Troy.

Local celebrities and professional dancers will join together Friday and dance for a cause as the Tri-County Business Exchange hosts its at the in Troy.

The event, which features well-known names in Detroit-area radio, television and government, serves to benefit the American Diabetes Association.

  • Amy Lange, television reporter for WJBK (Fox 2 Detroit).
  • Annette Kelly, Mrs. Michigan United States.
  • Carol Cain, producer and host of Michigan Matters and Detroit Free Press columnist.
  • Donna Barbera, radio personality on WJR.
  • Eric Smith, Macomb County prosecutor.
  • Peter Nielsen, renowned fitness guru.
  • Sean Forbes, deaf recording artist and founder of the Deaf Professional Arts Network (D-PAN).
  • Terry Foster, WXYT-FM radio personality.

Other celebrity appearances are expected by:

  • Rachel Nevada, WCAR radio personality and emcee.
  • Mark Hackel, Macomb County executive.
  • Robert Ficano, Wayne County executive.
  • Erin Nicole, WXYZ reporter.
  • Kyla Marcial, 2010 Mrs. Michigan United States.

Janet Blair, who is organizing this year's benefit, said Thursday that limited seating for the event is still available. She said more than 900 people attended last year's dance event, which sold out by the time doors opened.

Local celebrities participating in the benefit are paired with professional dancers, which offer instruction prior to the event. Friday's event also features dance showcases by professional dancers from the area.

Strolling food stations by several Metro Detroit restaurants will be available for VIP and reserved ticket holders. All attendees may participate in the evening's silent auction, of which 100 percent of proceeds go to the American Diabetes Association.

Special VIP tickets are available for $75 each, which includes champagne reception with celebrities, hors doeuvres, premier seating, strolling food stations and a VIP gift bag. 

Reserved seating tickets are available for $50 and include reserved seating and strolling food stations. General seating tickets are available for $25.
