Discovery Corner Academy Celebrates 35 Years of Business
Discovery Corner Academy celebrated 35 year business anniversary.
October 24, 2016 – TROY, MI — 2,000 – that’s the estimated number of children that have come through the doors of Discovery Corner Academy (DCA) since its inception in 1981. The Troy-based institution even has 4 children currently enrolled whose parents attended there for preschool. Talk about a proven track record! For 35 years, Discovery Corner Academy has provided an exciting educational environment within Troy and the surrounding community.
To mark the special occasion, DCA staff and families celebrated with local families on September 24 at Comerica Park. Families attended the Tigers game with free tickets donated by the Detroit Tigers organization. Festivities continued at the school with dinner, Kona Ice truck, bounce house and tuition raffle. Discovery Corner Academy was established by two school teachers that recognized the growing need for childcare as more parents entered the workforce. They used their teaching experience to organize a warm, loving place for children to learn and make new friends. They made it a great place to work, too, as some of the staff members have been there for over 20 years!
“I’ve been teaching for 18 years at DCA and it was so heartwarming to see so many families socializing at such an outstanding event,” says Kindergarten teacher Richele Williams. “I feel very fortunate to be a part of Discovery Corner.”

The institution offers full and part-time preschool, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and school age day camp year-round. Special school-age activities are offered during school vacations, snow days and throughout the summer.
