Drunken Driver Hits Mailboxes, Pulls Into Troy Fire Station With Flat Tires: Police

Officials said the drunken driver jumped the curb and hit multiple mailboxes before pulling into a Troy fire station with two flat tires.

TROY, MI — A drunken driver was arrested after jumping the curb and hitting multiple mailboxes before pulling into a Troy fire station with two flat tires, according to police.

Police said the 56-year-old Sterling Heights man was driving a 2013 Ford Taurus on Maple Road near John R Road in Troy on Nov. 22 at 7:08 p.m. when he struck the curb and multiple mailboxes before pulling into the parking lot of Fire Station #4.

Officers found the Taurus in the parking lot with two flat tires, damage to the rims and damage to the bumper in the lot, police said.

While officers talked to the driver, they noticed he slurred his words and smelled like alcohol, police said.

The man then failed sobriety tests and blew .10 percent on a Breathalyzer, police said.

He was placed in the Troy Lock-Up Facility, where his chemical breath test results were .10 percent and .09 percent, police said.

He was cited for operating while intoxicated, police said.
