ELECTION RESULTS: Tight Finish in Troy Council Race
Two candidates had 20 percent of the vote. Who came out on top?

Dave Henderson and Edna Abrahim were elected to the Troy City Council Tuesday with 6,403 and 6,220 votes, respectively. Ethan D. Baker appears to have ousted incumbent Steve Gottlieb, by a vote of 5,608 to 5,560, according to unofficial results.
Unopposed candidates Mayor Dane Slater and Jim Campbell, who ran for an unexpired term, were elected.

Voters also approved a library and school district levies.

Troy Mayor Dane Slater is unopposed in his bid for another four-year term, and five candidates are running for three four-year terms on the City Council in Tuesday’s election.
Polls remain open until 8 p.m. If you’re unsure about where you should vote, find your polling place here.
The council candidates are Edina Abrahim, Ethan D. Baker, Steve Gottlieb, Dave Henderson and Paul McCown. Gottlieb and Henderson are incumbents.
Jim Campbell, also an incumbent, is seeking to fill a partial term that would end Nov. 13, 2017.
Also on the ballot is a proposal to renew a levy of 70 cents per $1,000 taxable valuation for years for library funding.
If approved, the additional millage levied will raise approximately $3,203,233 in 2016, the first year it is levied.
Millage revenue would be disbursed to the City for library purposes. Of this amount, state law requires the capture of approximately $5,042 for Local Development Finance Authority, $52,808 for Downtown Development Authority, and $3,197 for Brownfield Redevelopment Authority purposes.
