Forty-four color guard units and twelve percussion ensembles from across the state of Michigan will perform at the Michigan Color Guard Circuit (MCGC) competition at Troy Athens High School on Saturday, February 25, 2012.
Doors open to spectators at noon with the opening ceremony at 12:30 p.m. Percussion performances immediately follow and color guard performances begin just before 3 p.m. Tickets are $7 and available at the box office the day of the event. Children age 5 and under are admitted free of charge. An excellent selection of concession items is available.
Indoor color guard performances feature dance movements and spinning of flags, sabres or rifles in a visual representation of recorded music. Percussion ensembles use an array of percussive instruments, props, movement, and skill to bring music and themes to life.
