The City of Auburn Hills has lined up a host of sights, sounds and flavors for two days of fun at its annual Summerfest celebration. The “main street” event will take place Friday, June 22, 4-10 pm and Saturday, June 23, 10 am-10 pm in the heart of downtown at Auburn and Squirrel Roads.
The festivities kick off Friday afternoon with the opening of “Kidz Korner,” live music and a new Arts & Craft Fair centered downtown and featuring many unique and one-of a-kind items created by artists from around the state. The Kids Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest runs 4-7 pm and everyone is invited to the time-honored “Ice Cream Social” served by City Council members in the big tent from 6-8 pm. Teams entered into the City’s renowned BBQ Cook-Off sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society will begin prepping and slow-cooking their barbecue favorites for a panel of judges to select winning recipes on Saturday. Music lovers can enjoy a live radio broadcast from Steve Costan and his WCSX 94.7 FM classic rock “Hometown Fridays” crew on Friday night.
