Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan calling all Girl Scout alumnae for a day of golf to support girls’ leadership
Current and past Troy area Girl Scouts invited to join annual event
DETROIT—Golf lovers and Girl Scouts go hand in hand at Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan’s 16th annual Golf Classic Fore! the Girls. The event will be held Monday, August 15, 2016 at Elks Club #222 in Grand Blanc, MI. Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan is welcoming current and past Girl Scouts from throughout southeastern Michigan to reconnect to the organization by golfing together in teams, or attending dinner following the outing, all in support of helping girls build leadership skills.
“Your day of golf positively impacts over 26,000 girls and 3,000 adult volunteers right here in Southeastern Michigan,” said Gerald McCarty II, chairman of the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan Golf Committee. McCarty, who is Vice President for Student Services at Baker College of Flint continued, “Being the father of five daughters who were Girl Scouts, I saw firsthand the tremendously positive experience my daughters had with the leader and members of their troop.”
The outing will feature an 18-hole scramble, lunch, silent auction and dinner. Prizes and awards for longest drive, closest to the pin and more will also be presented.
“The FORE! the Girls Golf Classic is a great way to support the mission of the Girl Scouts, and at the same time play on a course that once hosted the Buick Open and the AJGA Buick Open,” said Karen Murphy, Chief Development Officer of Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan.
Foursomes are available at $450.00 per team, and individual registrations are $120.00. All registrations include carts and green fees. Check in begins at 11:00 am, with a shotgun start at 12:30 pm. Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan also invites guests to join us for the dinner banquet following the golf outing. Dinner costs $35.00 for an individual ticket or $65.00 for a pair.
