Hamilton Elementary Students Raise Money for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Students at Hamilton Elementary School in Troy have concluded their spring fundraising efforts, under the leadership of Hamilton Student Council. Their chosen charity this year was the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The reason for their choice was to support Hamilton teacher Beth Mayne, whose daughter, Athens High school student Caroline, has bravely battled lymphoma and has recently been declared in remission, “cancer free!” Hamilton students did chores, solicited donations, collected “Pennies for Patients,” and presented a check for $2,619.26, made out to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on Caroline’s behalf on Thursday. Now that’s a lot of pennies!
