High School Students Job Shadow Film Professionals

On May 29th, high school students get to interface with film and television professionals on an actual film set and film studio.

On May 29th at Motion Picture Institute in Troy, high school students will have the opportunity to shadow film and television professionals during a Career Tech Field Trip.

Sessions will cover the following areas and positions within filmmaking and television production:

  • Cinematography
  • Film Lighting Technician / Electrician
  • Location Sound Mixer
  • Script Supervisor
  • Producing

In each session students meet with a film professional who will talk about the duties, responsibilities and a day-in-the-life of their respective job. They will discuss the required skills, training, studies, and path a person must consider in pursuing this career and how much this job can expect to earn.

Hands on instruction will include operation of the basic tools used in that particular job including cameras, lighting, and audio recording equipment.
