Police are looking for a man whom they said attacked a woman Friday in a Troy Target parking lot.

TROY, MI — Police are looking for a man whom they said attacked a woman Friday in a Troy Target parking lot.
Officers found the woman with injuries to her face and a witness who helped stop the assault in the parking lot of a Target store at 1301 Coolidge at 9:10 p.m.
The woman told officers the man forced her driver's door open and assaulted her as she was entering her vehicle in the parking lot, police said.

The man punched the woman numerous times in the face with a closed fist before pulling a handgun from his waistband, police said.
The woman fought back and alerted another person who was nearby, police said.

The witness then yelled at the man while running toward the woman, prompting the man to run away, police said.
Police described the man roughly a 30-year-old, tall, thin build man, who was wearing red shorts and a pale blue t-shirt. Surveillance video showed the man in the parking lot with a black backpack and a green hat.
Police were still investigating the incident and asked anyone who has information or recognizes the suspect in the attached photos to call 248.524.0777.
