Man Blows .25 Percent BAC: Troy Police Blotter
Also, an employee of a Troy store allegedly told police she took $50 and some lottery tickets on her first day of employment.

A 28-year-old Berkley man allegedly had a blood-alcohol content of .25 percent, more than three times the legal limit in Michigan, in field sobriety tests performed by Troy police after a two-vehicle accident Friday night.
The accident occurred at Kirts Boulevard and Crooks Road, according to Troy police reports. The driver of one of the vehicle indicated that the other driver had left the scene without providing information.
Officers caught up with the fleeing vehicle in the vicinity of Somerset and Kirts boulevards.

When the driver stepped from the vehicle, officers “noted an odor of alcohol flowing from him as he spoke,” according to the report.

After failing the field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for second-offense operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense.
During the period of Oct. 21-23, Troy police said officers handled 338 calls for service and made 18 arrests — six warrants, six traffic arrests, three arrests for operating while under the influence of alcohol, two narcotics arrests and one larceny arrest.

7-Eleven, 2891 Crooks Road, 10/20/2015, 7:10 PM – 7:12 PM: Business owner reviewed new employee’s cash register drawer after her first day of work and noted it was $296 short. When the 24-year-old female from Sterling Heights reported for work the next day, the responding officer spoke to her and she admitted to taking only $50 and some lottery tickets.
She was issued a misdemeanor citation for Larceny and released at the scene. Her employment was also terminated. 15-34642
Drugs/Narcotics of Interest
Maplelawn Drive, West of Crooks Road, 10/23/2015, 1:25 AM: Officer initiated a traffic stop on a white Cadillac CTS for a traffic violation. The driver, a 50 year old male out of Troy,appeared to be extremely nervous and kept changing stories about his destination. He allowed his vehicle to be search which resulted the officer finding a blue plastic “Q-Tip box located between the front passenger seat and the center console area. Inside the box was a clear plastic container that had a white substance inside and a brown plastic box that contained a light colored rock substance. The officer field tested a portion of the substances in each container, receiving a positive reaction for the presence of cocaine and heroin. The driver was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Heroin.
Larceny in a Building
500 block of Coachman, 10/9/2015 - 10/20/2015, 12:00 Noon – 5:15 PM: Victim discovered a set of diamond earrings missing from inside her jewelry box and an envelope containing $40 missing from under it. Maintenance people working on heating problems in the apartment complex have been in an out of her apartment on several occasions.
Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated
Northbound Rochester Road, North of E. Big Beaver Road, 10/22/2015, 1:37 AM: Officer initiated a traffic stop on a black 2007 Audi A4 and spoke with the driver, a 31 year old male out of Rochester. The driver was unsteady on his feet and an odor of alcohol could be detected flowing from him as he spoke. The driver admitted to having had consumed alcohol earlier and was asked to perform several sobriety tests to which he did but the officer noted that he performed poorly. He refused to submit to a preliminary breath test and was arrested.
A search of the vehicle was conducted and the officer located a narcotic pill in the center console that the driver stated was not his. While at the lock-up facility, the driver would not submit to a breath test but stated he would take a blood test. He would not cooperate with the paramedics and a blood test could not be conducted. A search warrant was obtained and executed at Troy Beaumont Hospital where the driver’s blood sample was drawn. He was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol – 2 pending laboratory results, Preliminary Breath Test Refusal, and Drug Possession. 15-34737

Big Beaver Road, 10/23/2015, 5:04 AM: Officer initiated a traffic stop on a black 2015 Chevrolet Camaro in which the driver was having trouble maintaining his lane of travel. The officer spoke with the driver, a 46 year old male out of New Jersey, and noted an odor of alcohol flowing from him as he spoke. The driver admitted to having had consumed alcohol earlier. He was to perform several sobriety tests to which he did but the officer noted that he performed poorly. He submitted to a Preliminary Breath Test with a result of .10%. Larceny From Automobile
2000 block of Lovington, 10/21/2015 – 10/22/2015, 6:30 PM – 11:00 AM: Victims discovered their 2001 Honda Accord would not start. When the vehicle was at the repair shop, it was determined that unknown suspect(s) stole the catalytic converter. In the process of cutting the converter away from the vehicle, the suspect(s) damaged the transmission shift cable causing the vehicle not to start. The vehicle had been parked in the apartment complex parking lot overnight. 15-34805
Retail Fraud
Trevarrow Ace Hardware, 97 W. Long Lake Road, 10/20/2015 – 10/23/2015, 6:00 PM –10:30 AM: Business owner was re-stocking some shelves and noticed multiple spots on the shelves that were completely sold out. In checking his records, these items were never sold. The items stolen included saw blades, screwdriver tips, vice grips, channel locks and wire cutters totaling $1,426.02 in loss to the business. 15-34874
Bath and Body Works, 838 E. Big Beaver Road, 10/23/2015, 7:20 PM: Employee reports a male and a female came into the business and refused any assistance. The female than began a friendly conversation with the employee while the male began to load-up two mesh bags with store merchandise. The male then signaled the female and both quickly left without purchasing the stolen merchandise. The items stolen totaled at least $500. 15-34920
Shell Gas Station, 2039 E. Big Beaver Road, 10/23/2015, 9:41 PM: Owner reports an unknown male came into the business and selected two bottles of anti-freeze and a gasoline can and brought them to the counter. The subject asked for a refund stating his wife bought them earlier. The owner told the subject that he had been working here all day and never sold the items, refusing to provide a refund. The subject then took the items with him and left the store. The items stolen were valued at $41.97. The suspect entered a silver Toyota Camry and fled northbound on John R Road. 15-34931

2000 block of Troy Center Drive, 9/1/2015, 12:00 Noon: Victim discovered unknown suspect(s) attempted to hack into his Pay Pal account and opened a Victoria’s Secret Credit Card in his name. The suspect(s) also attempted to open an American Eagle account but it was denied. Victim did not give anyone permission to open any accounts and has no idea how his personal information was acquired. 15-34692

GameStop, 1333 Coolidge Highway, 10/22/2015, 11:44 AM: Business Manager was preparing a deposit to be taken to the bank and noted finding 6 U.S. Currency Bills that appeared to be counterfeit. He took the deposit to the bank and it was confirmed that four $50 bills and two $100 bills were counterfeit. 15-34879
Home Depot, 1177 Coolidge Highway, 10/22/2015, 12:00 Noon: Victim attempted to make a purchase using her credit card and the transaction was denied. She discovered her bank had shut down her card due to suspicious activity. In checking her account, she noticed that unknown suspect(s) had used her credit card numbers to make ten fraudulent purchases. A fraudulent purchase of $107.21 was completed at the Home Depot Store and a $43.75 purchase was completed at the Target Store here in Troy. Purchases were also made in Auburn Hills, Burton, and Mundy Township. She believes her credit card numbers were compromised at a restaurant in the same building she is employed. She did not give anyone permission to use her account. 15-34887
Domestic/Family Trouble
Troy Officers responded to one incident involving domestic disputes or family troubles during this reporting period. On-scene investigation did not produce enough evidence that any crime of Domestic Assault was committed and no arrests were made. However, officers were required to take non-enforcement actions to either mediate the situation or keep the peace with the domestic dispute. Readers should be aware that although some incidents did not result in arrest or prosecution, it does represent significant law enforcement resources in terms of time, on-scene investigation, re location of disputants, referrals to support agencies, peace keeping, as well as detective and prosecutorial review.

Troy officers responded to two incidents involving a person(s) with reported emotional or psychological issues and assisted with transport to a hospital for evaluation or other intervention.
