Keego Harbor man faces attempted murder charges in attack left worker at Common Ground facility with a punctured liver.

A 26-year-old Keego Harbor man was taken into custody Friday after he allegedly stabbed a 30-year-old Common Ground employee in the lower back with a small folding knife, puncturing her liver, police said.

The incident took place about 10:55 a.m. at the facility at 1200 N. Telegraph Road in Pontiac, according to a report from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, who had committed to the mental health facility the day before, was taken into custody without incident. He faces attempted murder charges.

The sheriff’s office said it’s unclear how the suspect obtained a three-inch folding knife used in the attack.

Both the victim and the suspect were taken to McLaren Hospital – Oakland. The victim was taken into surgery, and the suspect was treated for cuts to his hands before he was taken to the Oakland County Jail, where he is being held.
