Man Shoots Up Oakland County Deli, Injuring 1 Before Shooting Himself: Police

Police said a 52-year-old employee was wounded in the shooting and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI — A man fatally shot himself Sunday morning after shooting up a Bloomfield Hills restaurant and injuring a working, Bloomfield Township Police said.

Police said the 52-year-old Detroit man fired multiple shots from his vehicle into the Steve’s Deli at 6646 Telegraph Rd. at 10 a.m., injuring a worker.

The employee, a 52-year-old woman, was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

After firing the shots into the deli, which was open at the time of the shooting, the shooter drove away from the restaurant, police said.

Southfield Police found the shooter's vehicle in the area of West Outer Drive and Greenfield Road in Detroit and stopped the car, police said.

As officers approached the vehicle, the shooter shot himself inside the car, police said. The shooter did not fire any shots at officers, police said.

Police do not know why the man shot-up the deli, but said he was employed at the restaurant.

Bloomfield Township Police said there is no immediate threat to the public while they continue investigating the shooting.
