Manufacturing Plant Catches Fire In Troy
The fire occurred near 14 Mile Road and John R early Friday morning.

TROY, MI — A fire at a Troy business was contained within minutes and all workers safely evacuated in the 14 Mile Road and John R area manufacturing facility early Friday morning. A 30-foot tall outdoor dust collector caught fire around 1 a.m. at American MSC Inc., according to fire department reports. No damage estimates were available.
The company manufactures automobile and heavy-duty truck clutches, torque converters and automobile transmissions, according to its website. The 24,600-square-foot building sits at Elliott Avenue and Executive Drive.
The dust collector is attached to an exterior wall of the building. Troy Assistant Fire Chief Chuck Riesterer said the cause and origin of the fire are under investigation, the Troy Times reported. He told the newspaper firefighters had to partially dismantle the dust collector to extinguish the fire.
