The Kona Grill restaurant is also located on Big Beaver Road, less than a mile from the hotel, according to police.

In addition, investigators learned employees at the restaurant contacted police with their concerns about the children's safety due to the apparent intoxication of their mother, according to police.

Officers later found the mother driving a 2017 Buick sport utility vehicle west on Big Beaver Road near Livernois, according to police.

During the traffic stop, officers asked the 44-year-old Southfield woman to exit her SUV and immediately noticed she was unsteady on her feet, slurred her speech and had bloodshot and glassy eyes, police said.

The woman refused to submit to a breathalyzer test after failing multiple field sobriety tests, according to officials.

Officers arrested her on suspicion of drunk driving and placed her in the Troy Jail, police said.

Officers requested a warrant to have her blood drawn

Troy Police turned over their findings to detectives who are still investigating the incident and are waiting the results of the blood alcohol test, according to police.
