Quartermania event will fund medical costs for homeless pets
Cats and dogs need medical care before they can be adopted to loving families. Paws for Life's year-end event will help save more lives.

WARREN, MICH., DEC. 2 - Paws for Life hosts year-end event to raise money for the medical needs of homeless pets in southeast Michigan. Open to the public, the Quartermania 2018 fundraiser runs noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2 at the American Croatian Hall, 32851 Ryan Rd, Warren.
The event includes raffles, silent auction, quarter auction, 50/50, lunch, cash bar, bake sale, vendors, wine pull and Basket of Happiness raffle, which is a basket of 14 bottles of alcohol from Bailey's to Jack Daniels to Bacardi. More than 80 items available to win.
"This year has been the year of major medical cases for us," said Courtney Protz-Sanders, executive director of Paws for Life. "We rescued a cat named Kingsley who had been hit by a car and needed life-saving surgery. He's doing well now, but his medical bills alone have reached $10,000."

The cost to attend the event is $10 per person, which includes three quarter auction paddles. Each participant who purchases a ticket in advance will receive a fourth paddle and a raffle ticket for free. Additional paddles available for purchase at the event. All proceeds benefit the homeless dogs and cats of Paws for Life Rescue.

QUARTERMANIA: HOW DOES IT WORK?
Beginning at 1 p.m., our auctioneer will call for bids to win an item or a basket of items ($20 minimum value). If you want to win the item, you hold up your paddle and place a quarter in the bucket for each paddle you raise. The auctioneer will draw a number and if that number matches your paddle, you win the item! Raise as many paddles as you want, depending on how badly you want to win the item. Play as few or as many auctions as you want.Get started or finish up your holiday shopping! This event is open to everyone and is fun for all ages. Parking is free.
