Rising Phoenix Archery will open its newly-expanded archery range on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 3863 Rochester Rd. in Troy.
“This expansion will give us the largest number of shooting lanes of any indoor range in the state of Michigan, with 38 total lanes,” said owner and archery coach Brandon Wright.
More lanes allow increases in open range hours up to 65 hours per week, up from the current 11 hours per week. The public is welcome during scheduled open range hours at a cost of $10 for an hour of shooting. There are no equipment rental costs for open range shooting- a bow and arrows will be provided, as well as some archery coaching for beginners. Open range hours are posted weekly on the Rising Phoenix Archery Facebook page.

The range expansion features a party area for birthday and corporate events, as well as concessions and free WIFI for guests. Updates also include a video capture station to record archers’ shot cycles for video analysis by a coach. This is only the second such video capture system to be implemented in the state, and RPA is among the first in the country to use this technology.
Rising Phoenix Archery began in 2011 with 2 handmade targets, 3 students and 4 bows. It was founded as a way to expand the sport of archery beyond the hunting-focused programs Wright and his family discovered when moving to Michigan from California.

“My son, Travis, started shooting at 5 years old and he progressed so rapidly that he won his first state title on his 6th birthday,” said Wright. “We had joined multiple archery clubs, but there was very little coaching available. So, I decide to become a certified coach and traveled to Colorado to get my level 1 & 2 certifications.”
Rising Phoenix Archery continues to grow and expand its program offerings. Today, it is the largest USA Archery-sanctioned program in the state of Michigan with more than 300 registered members. RPA offers the most comprehensive archery development programs in the state with programs for beginners, intermediate and advanced archery students. Other programs include homeschool programs, women only programs and adult only programs.
RPA’s competitive Junior Olympic Archery Development program (JOAD) and Adult Archery development program (AADP) have produced a number of archers who have placed in the top 50 at national competitions. Four of the top twenty archers in archery’s youngest division that placed at both NFAA and USAA Indoor Nationals train at Rising Phoenix Archery.
Rising Phoenix Archery is quickly becoming one of the largest archery training programs in the country. Located in Troy at 3863 Rochester Rd, RPA has been serving Southeast Michigan since 2011. For additional information, visitwww.michiganarchery.net or call (586) 770-1859.
