Derk W. Beckerleg, Executive Partner and Managing Partner of Secrest Wardle's Municipal Law Practice Group, recently attended the Citizens Research Council’s Centennial Anniversary Dinner on behalf of the Firm. This event took place on September 22, 2016 at The Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth and celebrated the extraordinary progress the Citizens Research Council has made over the past 100 years. The evening featured a panel discussion with former Michigan Governors James Blanchard and John Engler, which was moderated by Chuck Stokes of WXYZ-TV. A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Eugene Gargaro Jr. for his years of service to the Citizens Research Council as a member and Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Founded in 1916 and recognized as Michigan's oldest and most respected public policy research organization, the objective of the Citizens Research Council of Michigan is to provide factual, unbiased independent information on significant issues concerning state and local government organization and finance.
