Secrest Wardle Executive Partner John G. Mitchell submits questions to A.M. Best panel

The A.M. Best panel discussion pertained to the legal, claims, and risk issues surrounding drones

Troy, MI - Secrest Wardle Executive Partner John G. Mitchell, of the Firm’s Troy, MI, location, recently submitted several questions to A.M. Best webinar panelists discussing the legal, claims, and risk issues surrounding drones. Mr. Mitchell’s questions pertain to whether there are current, or proposed, federal statutes that address the ownership and use of drones; what the statutory limitations, if any, may be on the allowable space in which drones may operate; and whether the fact that there is public awareness of the potential misuse of drones creates potential liability (product based, or otherwise) for manufacturers of drones; and finally, does the doctrine of abuse and misuse insulate such companies from liability?

A.M. Best’s webinar, “Insurance Attorneys Examine the Legal, Claims and Risk Issues of Drones Part II” was the second in a series surrounding the drone topic, and was originally broadcast on September 22, 2015. The Panelists for the webinar were Bruce Raymond, Principal Attorney from Raymond Law Group LLC, with offices in Connecticut and Massachusetts and a member of Your House Counsel, Tim Crawley, Attorney from Anderson Crawley & Burke, PLLC, with offices in Mississippi and member of Your House Counsel, Matt Ouellette, Adjuster, Owner, and President of Ouellette & Associates, Inc., with offices in Indianapolis and President of the National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters (NAIIA), and Doug Haybarker, Corporate Property Claims Manager from State Auto Insurance Company.
