Secrest Wardle Shelly Lee Griffin to Speak at IASIU Seminar

Secrest Wardle Executive Partner, Shelly Lee Griffin, of the Firm's Troy location, is scheduled to speak at the International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU) Seminar & Expo on Insurance Fraud taking place September 9-12, 2018 in Baltimore, Maryland. The esteemed event brings together the world's leading SIU professionals at the forefront of detecting, investigating and deterring insurance fraud. As the largest seminar in the field, IASIU 2018 offers more than 40 workshops, on topics including auto issues, property issues, medical fraud, major case/ring investigations, technology, worker's compensation and international issues.

Ms. Griffin will be presenting, “Rich Man, Poor Man: When the Numbers Don’t Add Up,” on September 11, 2018. Her presentation will discuss the effective application of the Doctrine of Judicial Estoppel to dismiss policyholder’s claims when financial inconsistencies arise from prior bankruptcy filings.
