Senior Crafters Concerned About Potential Move in Troy Community Center
City officials want the space for wellness center.

(Originally posted on Dec. 16, 2016) TROY, MI — A group of senior citizens who regularly use the Troy Community Center may displaced to make room for a wellness center, and they're not happy about it, The Troy Times reported.
“We’re evaluating (other) spaces available in the building, of which there isn’t a lot,” Recreation Director Elaine Bo told the newspaper. “(The center is) heavily used by all ages. We’re evaluating our spaces to see the best places for the wellness center and Creative Endeavors.”
The crafts they made were sold to help sustain the Troy Community Center to take pressure off the city budget during the economic downturn.

The City Council has the final say on the matter and must vote on whether to approve a contract with Detroit Medical Center, which wants to use the space.
